Employment Law changes due May - July 2012

1st June 2012

  • Automatic Enrolment Regulations 2012 comes into force – this amends various Regulations such as; the implementation date of the Employers’ Duties (Implementation) Regulations 2010 and the Employers’ Duties (Registration and Compliance) Regulations 2010. This will give more flexibility to employers to bring their staging date forward to 1st July 2012.

5th June 2012

  • Additional bank holiday for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

24th June 2012

  • By this date the implementation of the new directive on equal treatment of self-employed workers will be enforced, allowing the right for maternity leave.

22nd July 2012

  • Sunday Trading Laws to be relaxed until 9th September 2012 – announced in the Budget 2012, this is being carried out to allow UK businesses the unique opportunity that the Olympics and Paralympics will bring to retail.
