ACAS guidance on social networking and the workplace

A report commissioned by ACAS considers the implications of social networking and mobile information and communications technologies for employment relations. The paper from the Institute for Employment Studies, advises employers to:

  • draw up a policy on social networking
  • treat ‘electronic behaviour’ in the same way they would treat ‘non-electronic behaviour’
  • react reasonably to issues around social networking by asking ‘what is the likely impact on the organisation?’
